DALLAS - Private funds and the mayor's support are going towards revitalizing a neighborhood near Fair Park.

The Dallas community is known as Jubilee Park.

People there are celebrating the start of the project.

A rough nightclub in the area is just about to come down.

Philanthropist T. Boone Pickens is donating $6 million to the rejuvenation.

Land is being purchased and improved.

There will be a police station post in the area and security cameras are being installed.

"It's good to see them doing what they are doing," said David Wayne Malone, a resident. "It will get better and better."

The mayor says the project is one step towards making Dallas the city he envisions.
