As Jackie Hyland departs to return to New York, News 8 has announced Cynthia Izaguirre will take her place as a Daybreak anchor.

Currently working as a main anchor at KOAT-TV in Alburquerque, New Mexico, she too is making a return of sorts. Izaguirre grew up in Dallas and attended Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of North Texas. She also said her family lives in the Dallas area and is excited to be returning home.

Over the last 10 years, she has anchored and reported in both News Mexico and Texas, including Tyler and Abilene. During the last three years she has served as one of KOAT-TV's primary anchors.

For those wondering how to pronounce her last name, she gave some hints in her bio page on KOAT.com.

"Just break it down phonetically," it reads. "EE-SAH-GEE-REH. Of course, you must roll the Rs exactly like Cynthia does."

Izaguirre's first day will be January 2.
