A Lancaster business facility that produces model airplanes was destroyed by fire late Wednesday afternoon.

The roughly 10,000-square-foot building of Wood to Go Inc., also known as Lone Star Models, 115 Industrial St. near Hutchins, caught fire shortly before 3 p.m.

No one was inside, city spokeswoman Ciciely Hickmon said. The cause of the fire had not been determined, but investigators believe it started in the rear of the building.

Firefighters from Waxahachie, Red Oak, Ovilla, DeSoto and Dallas helped battle the blaze, which took more than two hours to extinguish.
