Train hits man on Fort Worth tracks.

FORT WORTH - A man sitting on railroad tracks was struck and killed by an oncoming train Friday afternoon.

It happened near the intersection of Ayers and Vickery.

Fort Worth police said the victim was a man in his 50s or 60s who appeared to be playing with rocks or something on the ground when the train approached.

The engineer tried to stop, but the man stood up and began walking the same direction as the train.

It was not clear if the man intended to kill himself or if something else caused the man not to get out of the way of the train.
