Hair-thin disposable needles are said to increase blood flow.

DALLAS — While acupuncture has been used for years to treat disease, illness and pain, the ancient art has also been a method that—some say—can erase years from the face.

Brooke Arnold credits her young and fresh face to the monthly acupuncture treatments she undergoes to ward off the wrinkles.

Eric Vanderslice, a licensed Oriental medicine specialist, performs acupuncture facelifts. He spikes trouble spots with hair-thin, disposable needles "to stimulate the blood flow, stimulate the circulation."

"[I] stimulate that collagen production there, get the collagen growing there and begin to fill in the wrinkle," he said.

Arnold has been getting the procedure for more than a decade. "You feel the pressure and little bit of a pinch—and then, relaxed," she said.

Acupuncturists say it takes time for new clients to see results.

"You need to come in for maybe 10, 12, 15 treatments in a pretty rapid succession, two to three times a week," Vanderslice said.

Then clients come in for monthly maintenance, which costs about $60 a session.

Jeannette Lewellyn said she has been a believer for 15 years.

"A lift, just overall toning, and I felt better," she said. "So, I just kept doing that."
