FORT WORTH - Police were investigating how a severed horse head wound up buried on the property of an 84-year-old woman.

Officers responded Thursday to the 11700 block of Mosier Valley Road after someone reported a “fresh grave” with hair sticking out of the dirt, police said. There was also a foul odor.

A detective dug up the grave and found a severed horse’s head. It was unknown who buried it, police said. The property owner said people trespassed frequently.
