Three-year-old Breanna Webster may have scars for the rest of her life.
Her neighbor's dog attacked her, Tuesday evening.
Little Breanna Webster was playing with a dog most people would consider family-friendly, a golden retriever.
"This dog has destroyed this little girl's life," said Eve Melend, Breanna's aunt.
Breanna was at Jennifer Hollaway's home, when she apparently stepped on the dog's paw.
"The surgeon told me that was the worst dog bite he's ever seen in his life," said Melend.
The attack took off most of Breanna's upper lip.
Hollaway admitted that wasn't the first time the dog had attacked a child.
She said she always tells children under the age of 10 to stay away from him, "because he'll bite you."
The dog is in quarantine with Mesquite Animal Control, and the agency will likely force the dog to be deemed dangerous and forced outside the city limits.
Breanna didn't get that message, and now her family wants the dog put down.
"I don't want that dog released to do it to another child," said Twyla Teague, Breanna's grandmother.
Hollaway understands, even if it pains her.
"I would want them to put him down, but he's mine. So I have to make that decision," she said.
Breanna is getting treatment at Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
She faces years of surgeries to repair her face.
An account has been set up with Bank of America to help cover Breanna's medical expenses.
It's called the Breanna Webster Medical Fund.
