The one-alarm fire caused considerable damage.

FORT WORTH — Fort Worth investigators are trying to find the cause of an overnight church fire.

It broke out before midnight at the River of Life Fellowship in the 9600 block of Heron Drive on the city's northwest side.

Flames and smoke caused heavy damage to the 56-year-old wooden structure. John Gutierrez said his family had purchased the building just two months ago.

"We barely got this church, everybody's excited," he said. "What are we going to do?"

"When I came out here, see the smoke coming up from it, it's a grievous thing; you grieve over that," said church member Willard Ahbone. "But they'll be able to rebuild, I'm sure, and go ahead with the work."

No one was hurt in the fire.
