Not all businesses are suffering from a depressed economy.

In fact, one aspect of retail appears to be recession proof.

Laura Tidwell is turning her kids' cast-offs into cold, hard cash.

"We're getting rid of a lot of my daughter's groovy girls' collection," she said.

"This brings in extra money for me, my spending money."

She's among a growing number of moms trying to make a few bucks in resale.

According to the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops, resales are up 52 percent nationwide and that was before Christmas.

After seven years running the Divine Consign event in Plano, Tina Teutsch says this will be the biggest yet.

She blames and thanks the flagging economy.

"We've had more and more consigners signing up. More shoppers interested in what we have just because people really want a bargain," she said.

By Saturday morning, an entire convention center will be filled with 60,000 items - children's clothes, toys, and furniture.

It's not just kids resale that's booming.

The doors keep swinging open at Clotheshorse Anonymous in Dallas.

Demand for gently worn designer labels like Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel is rising by the day.

"Actually in the last week, we've seen it going up like, 10, 15 percent per day," said the store's Joleen Mullins.

Here the bad economy has made resale fashionable.
