Gary Cogill's Worst Ten Movies of 2008
04:07 PM CST on Wednesday, December 31, 2008
For every Dark Knight, there is Rambo. For every Frost/Nixon there's a Paris Hilton. Channel 8's movie critic, Gary Cogill, suggests you get out your noseplugs as he offers up the 10 worst films of 2008.
10. The Day The Earth Stood Still
The Day The Earth Stood Still is the worst sci-fi remake in history starring Keanu Reeves as a monotone alien trying to warn the audience that a really bad movie is on the way.
9. Righteous Kill
Righteous Kill stars Oscar-winners Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. That's right, two legendary actors in a good cop-bad cop movie so dumbed down, it's unwatchable.
8. Speed Racer
Speed Racer is a big-budget chaotic mess, so mishandled on the big screen, it barely resembled the popular 60's television show. Driving this fast has never been so boring.
7. The Love Guru
Mike Myers as The Love Guru, a comedy so inapproriate it hurts to watch. Two hours of sexual jokes and bad behavior that make you shake your head wondering what was Mike Myers thinking?
6. Witless Protection
What would a worst 10 list be without Larry the Cable guy making a witless movie so bad, so dopey, so unfunny, it doesn't even belong on late night cable.
5. 10,000 B.C.
Seeping out of the sides of the cinematic barrel is 10,000 B.C. another dreadful remake where people in diapers run for their lives in front of superimposed digital dinoaurs. Wow, I'm scared.
4. Meet Dave
Eddie Murphy in another bad movie called Meet Dave. A sci- fi comedy where Murphy rides around in a spaceship shaped like his head. A dreadful mess almost everyone avoided in local theatres.
3. Rambo
Rambo created by and starring Sylvester Stallone where he wears a wig, barely speaks, and kills everyone in sight. A mind-numbing slaughterfest with possibly the highest body count in movie history.
2. Over Her Dead Body
The second worst film of 2008? Over Her Dead Body starring Eva Longoria as a bride killed on her wedding day by an ice sculpture. Are you kidding me? A movie so bad, so inept, it would take the cake any other year.
1. The Hottie And The Nottie
But this year, scraping the bottom of the barrel at Number 1, Paris Hilton producing and starring in The Hottie And The Nottie. A movie so out-of-touch and out-of-focus it reigns surpreme as the worst movie I have ever reviewed. I have seen The Hottie And The Nottie and lived to tell about it.
