The Reader stars Kate Winslet as a tough German woman having an affair with a teenager.
The first half of The Reader is surprisingly sexual, but they eventually part ways, and later in law school he discovers his former lover is on trial for war crimes.
The Reader is directed with an Oscar-level touch by Steven Daldry. He directed The Hours and Billy Elliot. It's also an emotional, literary piece of work that shocks you one minute and moves you the next. Winslet is a sure fire Oscar contender in this difficult, compelling role as well as Ralph Fiennes as the boy grown up.
