Transformers is rated a mild PG-13 for violence.

You might call the new Transformers movie Armageddon-with-toys, as gigantic, detailed, fast-moving robots use earth as their battleground. In this case, a war between the good robots known as Autobots and the bad robots known as Decepticons.

Shia Beouf plays the teenager in the middle, Megan Fox plays the girl, and yes, the Transformers shape-shift into hot cars with the autobots protecting the humans. The frenzy of combat is a constant in this movie.

Transformers is a bigger-than-life action flick produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Michael Bay - he directed Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. Transformers is more Bay than Spielberg, meaning the characters are thinly written, and the film features plenty of flaws, but the action happens often, and when it does, it's wildly entertaining.

Transformers is rated a mild PG-13 for violence, this is not a sophisticated emotional movie, but a gee whiz "look at that" that style of film. It's also 30 minutes too long, features a decent sense of humor, and doesn't pretend to be anything other than big toys battling on a big screen.
