There is something beautiful and life-affirming about watching
March Of The Penguins, an enlightened documentary about the
dating and mating rituals of Emperor penguins.
What begins in the frozen sea is only the beginning, because to get
where they are going these Penguins walk single-file on ice for 70 miles.
The generous voice of Morgan Freeman can be heard serving as the film's
narrator. Once the penguins arrive, they pair up and mate, and the
result is a new life inside the egg - carefully guarded and protected
from the harsh sub-zero temperatures.
What you'll discover watching the film is that it's the fathers who
protect the egg, and it's the mothers who march back 70 miles to fill up
their bellies with more fish. For months, without eating, the males
huddle together to stay warm and keep the egg alive.
March Of The Penguins is filled with breathtaking, endearing
images. Yes, there is some tragedy, but mostly this is a loving film
about committment and patience.
We can learn a lot from the study of penguins, and your life will be
enriched if you take the time to join them on their journey.
