DALLAS - The line is long. Homeless men and women who want and need something to keep warm this winter.

That's where Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry comes in.

"It's our job to give back a little bit, what we can," he said.

This is the result of Terry's second annual coat and blanket drive. About 500 coats, jackets and blankets were collected at a Mavericks home game and Dave and Buster's.

For the Mavs' sixth man, the cold air is a reminder of the need.

"We're coming back from the West Coast and I had my jacket on today and I was like oh my God it's freezing out here," Terry said. "But you know nobody's gonna feel it more than these people and anything we can do to put a smile on their face and keep 'em warm."

Peggy Richards knows the need too. She's been here at Dallas' Bridge homeless center for five months.

"I'm glad their doing this. It means they really care about you," she said. "It's really Christmas for you. It's awesome."

Terry isn't just a front man either. He literally gave the coat off his back, one he's had since his rookie season of 1999, to Terry Simmons.

"I don't know what to say," Simmons said, "but just smile and say thank you."
