Southlake Carroll QB commits to SMU

11:16 PM CDT on Monday, July 21, 2008

The Dallas Morning News

Southlake Carroll quarterback Kyle Padron said he has orally committed to SMU. Padron (6-4, 205) said he had also received offers from Montana State and Sam Houston State. Padron threw for 326 yards on 33 of 53 passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions as Riley Dodge's backup last season.

"I wanted to stay in Texas, and I'm getting a chance to play close to home," Padron said. "The coaching staff is unbelievable. [Playing for June Jones] was a major factor in my decision. He throws the ball the same way we do at Southlake."

Padron is the 13th commitment for SMU and the second quarterback (Skyline's Chris Frazier).
