NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma spent much of its offseason focusing on playing better on the road.

Quarterback Sam Bradford and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy – both sophomore team captains – have taken it a step further. The two have called a players-only meeting before each of OU's games at Washington and Baylor.

McCoy said they plan to keep meeting without the coaches before each road game the rest of the year. He also said the top-ranked Sooners would "most likely" have a meeting before they play No. 5 Texas on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl

OU lost at Colorado and at Texas Tech last season and was 2-2 in road games. The Sooners won at Tulsa and struggled to win at downtrodden Iowa State.

"It's clear to see the different mind-set and energy we have going on the road this year compared to last year," McCoy said. "We're just going to keep that going. We're not going to stop. Anything we've been doing, we're not going to change anything because it's been working for us."

Injured players practice: Coach Bob Stoops said injured defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger (left foot) of Kimball, defensive end Frank Alexander (stab wound), starting center Jon Cooper (sprained knee) and McCoy (toe) practiced Monday.

Cooper and McCoy were hurt Saturday against Baylor. Granger hadn't practiced since suffering an injury at Washington on Sept. 13. Alexander hasn't played since the season opener Aug. 30 against Tennessee-Chattanooga.

"Right now, our trainers are pretty optimistic and feel that everyone will be ready to play," Stoops said.

Clayton doesn't feel worthy: Starting strong-side linebacker Keenan Clayton was named co-Big 12 defensive player of the week Monday after recording a career-high 14 tackles in a win at Baylor on Saturday. But Clayton said he shouldn't have been honored.

"If you watched the film that I watched, you wouldn't have given it to me," Clayton said. "I didn't deserve it."

Clayton said he played with bad technique when making tackles and didn't drive the offensive player back upon contact.
