WEST POINT, N.Y. – Baylor is hoping to head into 2006 with the nation's longest winning streak intact.

Sophia Young had 24 points and 10 rebounds and No. 5 Baylor won its 29th straight game Saturday night, 85-68 over Army.

"We're certainly glad to win," coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said. "I thought our players did just enough to win the basketball game. Now we're heading to the holidays."

The Lady Bears (9-0) host Sam Houston State (2-4) on Dec. 29. Their last loss was 69-55 at Texas on Jan. 22, 2005.

Cara Enright led the Black Knights (4-5) with a season-high 28 points, but no other player reached double figures. Enright was averaging 17 points coming into the game.

"It's disappointing that our players were not able to control her off the dribble," Mulkey-Robertson said. "Anytime someone can score that many points against what I think is a pretty decent defense, I'll compliment her and tell her she did a wonderful job today."

Rachel Allison added 12 points, Chameka Scott had 11 and Jhasmin Player 10 for the Lady Bears.

The Black Knights jumped out to a 7-2 lead, and the game was tied four times in the first half before Baylor went on a 21-9 run to take a 42-30 halftime lead. Young scored nine points in the run.

"I was really proud of the way our team came out and competed," said Army coach Maggie Dixon, who is in her first year after five seasons as an assistant at DePaul. "We kept it close in the first half and set the tempo of the game defensively. Sophia Young is an extremely talented player, and we let her take off a little bit during the last five minutes of the first half."

Army was held to 36 percent shooting and had 11 shots blocked. In the second half, the closest the Black Knights could come was 49-40. Baylor's lead grew to 20 points four times, including 71-51 with nine minutes left.

"I told them that they did a really good job of executing our game plan for about 20 minutes," Dixon said. "We have to carry that through for a full 40 minutes next time. I don't think anyone walked out of the gym tonight without thinking that we can compete at the highest level."

Army improved on its only prior game against Baylor, an 83-47 loss in Waco on Dec. 29, 1995.
