Former Longhorn Wrightsil-Davis joins UT women's basketball staff

By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News

AUSTIN – Texas women’s basketball coach Jody Conradt on Wednesday named former Longhorn player great Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil to replace recruiting guru and former associate head coach Karen Aston.

Aston led the charge in landing the talent that took Texas to the 2003 Final Four as well as Parade All-American forward Tiffany Jackson of Duncanville, who will be a senior this fall. Aston left last month to join Kim Mulkey-Robertson’s staff at Baylor.

Wrightsil-Davis helped lead Texas to the first undefeated national championship in Division I-A women’s basketball history in 1986 under Conradt.

Davis-Wrightsil has worked as chief operating officer of the WNBA’s San Antonio Silver Stars since 2002.

Aston helped land seven student-athletes in what many recruiting services rated the No. 1 freshman class in the country in 2006. Texas has only three scholarships available over the next two seasons.
