Duncanville fighter wins Pan Am berth

Duncanville's Luis Yanez won the 106-pound division of the Pan American Box-Offs, earning a trip to the Pan American Games, July 16-29, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Yanez, 18, won a 13-9 decision over Roberto Ceron of Doraville, Ga. Yanez also defeated Ceron in the finals of the National Golden Gloves and the U.S. Championships.
Dallas' Roberto Marroquin also advanced, winning the 119-pound division by dominating Victor Valenzuela of Passaic, N.J. San Antonio's Hector Ramos fell to Karl Dargan of Philadelphia at 141 pounds.
