CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL
Orange Little Cypress-Mauriceville (28-2) vs. Cleburne (28-10-1)

11:30 a.m. Friday

About Little Cypress-Mauriceville: The school is in the state tournament for the first time. It has outscored its opponents, 89-15, during a 19-game winning streak. Pitcher Cody Trahan (25-2), an LSU signee, threw a one-hitter and struck out 19 in a nine-inning win over Klein Oak in the regional final.

About Cleburne: Pitcher Katie Cowan (23-8, 0.77 ERA) has led Cleburne to its first state tournament. Amberly Waits (.424 batting average), Cowan (.402), Janaye Richardson (.391) and Sam Oleksak (.322) have combined for 96 RBIs. Waits has 16 extra-base hits, includingfour home runs.

CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL
Dripping Springs (29-5) vs. Justin Northwest (28-10-1)

About Dripping Springs: The team uses two pitchers – Nikki Brown (15-3) and Paige Sandahl (14-2). Senior shortstop Alicia Salazar is hitting .461 and has 12 doubles, five triples and four home runs. Brown is hitting .419 with two home runs.

About Justin Northwest: Pitcher Brittany Barnhill (23-6) has struck out 414 in 218 innings. Barnhill is hitting .475 but is the only Northwest player hitting better than .240. Freshman Erinn Jayjohn leads the team with 17 RBIs.

CLASS 5A SEMIFINAL
Garland (33-2) vs. Clute Brazoswood (31-3)

5 p.m. Friday

About Garland: Tomi Garrison (22-1) and Whitney Wilson (11-1) shared the pitching duties during the regular season, but Garrison has been Garland's pitcher in the playoffs. Garrison, Wilson, Vanessa Vice, Brianna Love and Fra'Shekia Knight all have more than 30 RBIs.

About Brazoswood: Lisa Paul leads the team with a .385 batting average and 38 stolen bases, and Tasha Rotramel is hitting .370. Sparked by pitcher Brittany Cuevas (23-3), Brazoswood has won its six playoff games by a combined 13-2.

CLASS 5A SEMIFINAL
Spring Branch Smithson Valley (26-1) vs. Keller (33-3)

8 p.m. Friday

About Smithson Valley: The team has scored in double figures 10 times during its 25-game winning streak. Pitcher Taryn Munoz (21-1) has allowed only one run in the playoffs. Outfielder Casey Thompson will try to walk on at Texas A&M.

About Keller: Kirsten Shortridge is 65-4 over the last two seasons and has allowed nine earned runs in 476 innings. Mississippi signee Amber Tramp is hitting .333 with 20 RBIs, and Stephen F. Austin signee Michele Huffman is hitting .313 and has 27 stolen bases.
