2005-06 All-Area Girls Soccer Team

04:17 PM CDT on Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Selected by Staff Writer David Hinojosa based on regular-season and playoff performances

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: LAUREN WILMOTH

GARLAND, SR., FORWARD

The statistics, Lauren Wilmoth says, are irrelevant. The thing the Garland forward will remember most about her senior season was the chance to play with her friends.

"I'll miss hanging out with all the girls since we won't be playing together anymore," Wilmoth said. "I've been playing with them since I was a little girl."

Wilmoth made a big impact for Garland, which won the District 11-5A title and advanced to the regional quarterfinals. Wilmoth figured in 81 of Garland's 109 goals, leading the area in goals (46) and assists (35). Wilmoth, a former member of the under-17 national team, hopes to make a similar impact next year at UCLA.
