Selected by Staff Writer David Hinojosa based on regular-season and playoff performances
Jonathan Villanueva's nomadic high school career took him to South Grand Prairie his senior year. It was Villanueva's fourth school in four years, and it was his favorite stop.
Coach Marco Armijo called Villanueva "a playmaker." Villanueva skillfully ran South Grand Prairie's attack from his center midfield position. Despite being constantly double-teamed, Villanueva had 31 goals and 14 assists and served as the biggest reason South Grand Prairie advanced to the regional quarterfinals.
"It was a great way to go out with a great team and great friends," Villanueva said.
Villanueva is headed to the University of Virginia in the fall.
"It's a great place to play," Villanueva said. "I can't wait to wake up every day, knowing that I'm going to play soccer."
