Oklahoma's Stoops: This game is motivation enough
12:03 AM CST on Tuesday, November 18, 2008
NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma was fourth in last season's BCS standings with legitimate national title hopes before losing to Texas Tech, 34-27, in Lubbock. In that game, quarterback Sam Bradford left early after suffering a concussion.
Coach Bob Stoops said revenge wasn't a factor this week for the Sooners.
"We've got all the motivation you need without having to bring up the fact they beat us a year ago," Stoops said. "It's all about this year and what the opportunities are for us. And there are many. That alone makes it a big game."
NORMAN, Okla. – Defensive coordinator Brent Venables, reported to have interviewed for the Clemson coaching position last week, said he was aware of his name being mentioned for various positions. "I would be lying if I said otherwise, only because ... you're being recognized because of the performance of your team and all the coaches you're associated with," he said.
