DALLAS — Children's Medical Center of Dallas treats kids around the country for illness and disease. But the facility was forced to turn away patients Wednesday morning as it dealt with water problems.

The hospital said a water main break at 7:30 a.m. caused minor flooding on the ground floors of the building. While no patient rooms were affected, the water supply had to be shut off to two major towers of the hospital while the problem was resolved.

As a result, any incoming patients were diverted to nearby Parkland Memorial Hospital for about an hour and 45 minutes Wednesday morning.

A Children's spokeswoman said no surgical procedures were affected. Bottled water was being used for drinking.

The extent of the damage caused by the flooding was not immediately known.
