09:03 AM CST on Monday, December 1, 2008
GRAND PRAIRIE — Grand Prairie investigators say a bedridden woman was killed in an overnight fire.
The first alarm at the Thousand Oaks mobile home community went out after 1 a.m. Monday. Half of the residence was in flames when firefighters arrived in the 300 block of Knob Oak Court.
Firefighters found the victim inside. Her identity was not available.
The home next door was also in jeopardy. "The mobile home was far enough involved that it just started to shift on its foundation," said Assistant Chief Charles Grippin. "It started to roll off into the mobile home next to it, so we had to get in there and protect exposures.
The adjacent home did sustain minor heat damage.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
