Implosion brings down Dallas hotel
10:50 AM CST on Sunday, November 9, 2008
DALLAS — After serving guests for 28 years along North Central Expressway, a Dallas hotel was reduced to rubble in seconds Sunday morning.
The former Holiday Inn between Walnut Hill and Royal Lane was imploded at 8 a.m. as most of the city was sleeping.
North Central Expressway was shut down temporarily as the nine-story hotel came tumbling down in a cloud of dust.
After the debris is hauled away, Valencia Capital Management plans a new 83-acre mixed use development on the prime real estate, including high-rise condominiums, luxury town homes, senior living and medical office buildings.
The new development is expected to be complete by the end of next year.
