OAK CLIFF - Duncanville boxer Luis Yanez is known for his fast hands.

But he couldn't dodge the blow from the USA's boxing judicial committee.

Now his life-long Olympic dream hangs in the balance of one last appeal.

Luis Yanez, 19, is back against the ropes.

He is entering what's believed to be the final round of his appeals.

Now an independent arbitrator will hear his case this week and determine whether he'll be able to live out his Olympic dream.

Inside the ring he's a terror, racking up an undefeated record on American soil, over the last five years.

But outside the ropes Yanez has lost for the second time in as many weeks.

USA Boxing kicked him off the Olympic squad earlier this month following reports that he missed mandatory training in Colorado.

Despite warnings from his coaches to come back, the Duncanville teen stayed at home, where he says he was caring for his sick sister.

His fellow teammates are moving on but some say their former captain deserves a second chance.

"We're all human - everybody makes mistakes. I think it's messed up that someone can take your dreams away from you for making that one mistake that he was naturally going to do," said Gary Russell.

That arbitration hearing is expected to take place in the next three days.

In addition to the support he's been getting from his friends and family at his Oak Cliff gym, house representative Roberto Alonzo sent a letter to USA Boxing expressing his disappointment with its decision.
