Police investigating

robbery of bank

Three men robbed a Wells Fargo bank Saturday morning in the 1800 block of Brown Boulevard in Arlington, police said. The men approached the branch manager at 9:30 a.m. and demanded money before fleeing with an undisclosed amount in a stolen car, which was later found about a mile away. Police Lt. Blake Miller said investigators did not have descriptions of the men.

Off-duty officer hurt as

gun accidentally goes off

An off-duty Dallas police officer was injured early Saturday morning when his handgun accidentally discharged inside the Red River Saloon in the 10300 block of Technology Boulevard. Officer Andrew Pagel, a three-year veteran, was taken to Baylor University Medical Center with a bullet wound near his right ankle. He was preparing to mount a mechanical bull inside the saloon at 1:35 a.m. when the gun discharged, Sgt. Gil Cerda said. No one else was hurt. Officer Pagel underwent surgery Saturday and should be released by Monday. Sgt. Cerda said the department's internal affairs division investigates anytime an officer's gun accidentally discharges.

Man, 56, found shot

to death in home

Firefighters recovered the body of 56-year-old Michael Gordon from a house in the 2300 block of East Overton Road in Dallas on Saturday. Dallas police Sgt. Gil Cerda said Mr. Gordon had been shot. Officials believed that Mr. Gordon lived in the house. The man's older brother discovered the body after peering through a screen door. The brother called Dallas Fire-Rescue, and the police were called in at 3:45 p.m. Police were investigating the death as a homicide.

Trustees appoint retired

teacher to school board

Chester McCrary, a retired Grand Prairie High School teacher, was selected Saturday to fill the unexpired term of Grand Prairie school board member Eddie Gwynn. Mr. Gwynn resigned June 8 to accept a job with Richmond American Homes. Mr. McCrary was the unanimous choice of the Grand Prairie school board. Mr. McCrary's first meeting as a member of the school board will be Thursday.

Lewisville

Man's body recovered

from Lewisville Lake

A visitor to Lewisville Lake spotted a body believed to be that of a 42-year-old man who jumped into the lake from his boat on Thursday and didn't resurface. The body was found about 12:30 p.m. Saturday near where the missing man had disappeared, said Tom Reedy, a Denton County sheriff's spokesman. The victim apparently drowned, officials have said. His name has not been released pending identification from the Tarrant County coroner.

Frisco teen held in crash

that killed 11-month-old

A Frisco teenager wanted on a manslaughter charge in the traffic death of an 11-month-old girl turned himself in to Lewisville police Friday night. Police said Zachariah Thompson Tarver, 17, was driving the sport utility vehicle that collided with another SUV at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 35E in Lewisville. Police said Mr. Tarver, who was not a licensed driver, ran away after the crash. Maya Hipolito was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother, Carlos Parra, was listed in critical condition. Their mother, Nancy Salinas, was treated and released. Mr. Tarver was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Second driver ran from

fatal crash, police say

A 20-year-old man died early Saturday after his car was broadsided in the 8500 block of Denton Drive near Love Field. Dallas police said the driver of a white pickup hit the victim's Ford Escort about 4:30 a.m. and ran away. Police did not have the suspect's name or description. The victim's name was not released, pending notification of relatives.

Police investigating

fatal shooting of man

A 32-year-old Shreveport, La., man died of multiple gunshot wounds Friday night. Dallas police received a call about 9 p.m. and found Sean Paul Levine inside a garage in the 3100 block of St. David Drive. Mr. Levine was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he later died, Sgt. Gil Cerda said. No arrests had been made late Saturday, and police had no suspects and knew of no motive, he said.
