A man drove his car into a group of four English soccer players Sunday morning after a fight at a nightclub in the 2400 block of Swiss Avenue, just east of downtown.
Geronimo Chavez, 33, of Carrollton got into a fight with the men at the Lizard Lounge about 3 a.m., according to Dallas police Senior Cpl. Gerardo Monreal. After being thrown out of the club, Mr. Chavez got in his car and plowed into the men as they stood in the street, police said.
He hit a parked car as he fled the scene, police said. Mr. Chavez was later arrested while driving on the Bush Turnpike.
The victims, who were in town for a soccer tournament, were treated and released.
Mr. Chavez was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Dallas County Jail, with bail set at $100,000.

for missing teenager
High winds hampered a search for a teenager who remained missing in Lake Ray Hubbard on Sunday.
Brandon Fugate was fishing with two friends when their boat capsized Saturday afternoon. The other two men were pulled from the water.
Texas Parks and Wildlife spokesman Garry Collins said the two survivors went out on the lake Sunday morning with rescue teams to help pinpoint the location of the incident. He said wind could restrict divers' ability to search.

burns employee
Dallas police blocked traffic early Sunday morning on Reagan Street after a man threw an unknown powder into the air at a nightclub. An employee called police after the substance burned his tongue.
The man threw the material into the air about 1 a.m. at Station 4 on Cedar Springs Road, according to Dallas police Senior Cpl. Gerardo Monreal. He then left the club.
Paramedics treated the employee for a blister on his tongue. Authorities are testing the substance.

standoff at home
Dallas SWAT officers took an armed man into custody Saturday night after he barricaded himself in a home with his wife and three children and threatened to harm them, police said.
Bruce Macon, 40, locked the metal burglar door and slammed the front door to a home in the 2200 block of Aspen Drive when officers arrived about 10 p.m., according to Dallas police Senior Cpl. Gerardo Monreal.
SWAT officers were able to persuade Mr. Macon to release his wife. Soon after, officers entered the home, near Bruton and Prairie Creek roads, and took Mr. Macon into custody. There were no injuries.
Officers found a handgun and a shotgun inside the residence. Mr. Macon was charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated assault. He is being held in the Dallas County jail, with bail set at $203,000.
