Weather warms up in Dallas-Fort Worth 1:06 PM CT
02:58 PM CST on Tuesday, January 6, 2009
A day after temperatures hovered near freezing, the mercury was expected to soar into the 60s by the evening commute, the National Weather Service said.
The temperature reached 56 degrees at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport after lunch, said Steve Fano, a weather service meteorologist.
The rest of the week will be marked by sunny skies and warm temperatures.
“It’ll be pretty darn beautiful,” Fano said.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the high 60s Wednesday, and the weather will warm up into the 70s on Thursday and Friday.
The warm weather comes on the heels of a cold front that arrived Sunday, bringing near-freezing temperatures and rain on Monday. About 48,000 Dallas-Fort Worth customers lost power Monday as ice weighed down tree limbs and power lines. About 1,300 people and businesses remained in the dark this afternoon.
