As part of the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington, students will be able to visit with engineers and scientists from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on ExxonMobil Day. Speakers include Bernard Harris, the first African-American to walk in space, and Greg Hale, director of the Science Education and Career Center at UTA. Campers also will be able to conduct hands-on experiments and participate in interactive demonstrations. The event will be in the Chemistry and Physics Research Building, 700 Planetarium Place. Coppell is seeking volunteers to serve on city boards, commissions and committees and to be the city's representative to the American Red Cross. Applicants must be one-year residents and registered voters. Texas Woman's University presents the Latino Dance and Music Festival through Saturday at its Denton campus. The festival includes classes, workshops, concerts and lectures. Mayor Herbert Gears and the Irving Fire Department will hold its Supplies for Success drive through Aug. 8. The drive provides school supplies to children from low-income families. Donations will be accepted at fire stations 1 through 11. Cash donations also are welcome. Checks should be made payable to the Irving Independent School District.
