A Wylie High School student found with a gun has been charged with possession of a weapon in a prohibited place, a third-degree felony, police said.
Wylie police received a report at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday that a student might have a gun on a school bus, police said. Authorities did not release the caller's name.
Wylie police detective Venece Perepiczka said a handgun fell from the pants of a 16-year-old student during a search by the school's resource officer after the bus arrived at Wylie High School. The student was taken to Collin County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police do not know who owns the gun. Witnesses said the student was trying to sell the weapon, according to Wylie police.
