Alan Peppard on: Cheryl Casone, Richard Hayler, Ghostbar and more
12:00 AM CDT on Sunday, June 22, 2008
You occasionally see her familiar face dining in Deep Ellum, shopping in Uptown or even out on Lake Lewisville. Wait, she looks just like that business anchor Cheryl Casone from Fox News. That's because she is Cheryl Casone.
The cable business beauty is a Dallas native and is back here every six to eight weeks to visit her dad, Joe Casone, her brother, Joe, and her stepmother, Susan.
Cheryl was a business correspondent for Fox News and made regular appearances on Your World With Neil Cavuto and Cashin' In. But last fall, the overlords in Rupert Murdoch's tower of power anointed her for the anchor chair on Fox Business News. She definitely has the chops for the gig. She's been a business correspondent for CNN and an overnight and early morning anchor for MSNBC and NBC.
Not bad for an alum of Beaver Elementary School in Garland.
Most days, hair samurais Richard Hayler and JT and Bruce Osgood are competitors. (Richard owns the Richard Hayler Colour Salon at Neiman Marcus and the Osgoods own three Osgood-O'Neil hair salons.)
But Richard and his wife, Heather, have teamed up with the Osgoods to raise money for the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.
The two couples are co-chairing Art + Advocacy. They are soliciting local artists to donate original works that will be auctioned off at a Nov. 6 benefit to help the center deal with child abuse.
Has it already been two years since Vegas club duo Scott DeGraff and Michael Morton opened Ghostbar in Dallas?
Ghostbar scenes have included Owen Wilson with then-gal pal Kate Hudson; Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson sharing a New Year's Eve kiss; Tony celebrating his 27th birthday with Carrie Underwood; Ashlee Simpson with future hubby, Pete Wentz; Justin Timberlake and Timbaland giving an impromptu show; Paris Hilton flogging her unwatchable film The Hottie & The Nottie; as well as quick visits by Clint Eastwood and Lily Tomlin.
During Pete Wentz's last visit to Ghostbar, he hit the DJ booth with his pal, Travis McCoy, lead singer of Gym Class Heroes.
On July 3, Travis will be back at the W's 33rd-floor nightclub for its second anniversary celebration. Other entertainers booked for the gig include DJ-rapper Biz Markie, DJ Luke Solomon and local hip-hopper Big Red Rooster.
