Elephiesta in Fort Worth
12:00 AM CDT on Friday, July 4, 2008
The North Texas music scene slows down on the Independence Day weekend, but here's something that's both American and local. The fifth annual Elephiesta music party will be held today at two of Fort Worth chef Tim Love's properties: the venerable White Elephant Saloon and the Love Shack next door. Sixteen high-quality country bands, from the ultra-traditional (Brad Hines, Travis Linville) to the forward-thinking (the Bois D'Arcs, Rodney Parker & 50 Peso Reward) will perform indoors during the 13-hour event. The lineup's stuffed with up-and-coming regional talent, which is the point of the annual showcase. Except for a fireworks show (been there) and perhaps your own barbecue cookout (done that), there's not much that's more truly American to experience this July Fourth.
