Must-see shows by Texas artists: June 12-18

04:17 PM CDT on Friday, June 12, 2009

By MARIO TARRADELL / Music Critic

Bryan Clark, a Dallas singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, returns to his Texas turf to help celebrate the release of Gossip, Inspiration and Slander, a two-disc set that showcases his sterling musicianship in both an electric and acoustic setting.

His sound is decidedly Americana, mixing country, blues, folk and bluegrass. Among the many instruments he picks up is the dobro. Clark's music will be featured in every episode this season of America's Next Top Model, according to his Nashville publicist. Clark is now a Music City resident, and these performances are his first in Dallas in nine years.

Clark and his band members will conduct a performance workshop Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 at Charley's Guitar Shop, 2720 Royal Lane, Suite 100. $20; space is limited. www.charleysguitar.com. Also, Clark performs Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Bill's Records, 1317 S. Lamar St. Free admission. 214-421-1500.
