Dallas recycling program offers movie passes for unwanted items04:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 13, 2008Your old cell phone, unwanted tires and broken kitchen appliances can be exchanged for movie passes this weekend in Dallas. The Dallas Summer Recycling Roundup takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations: Dallas City Hall’s horseshoe parking lot, 1500 Marilla St. Fretz Park Recreation Center, 6900 Beltline Road Kiest Park Recreation Center, 3080 South Hampton Road This is one of four annual roundups the city hosts and serves as an opportunity for residents to discard unwanted items that normally are not part of curbside pickup. Dallas residents with valid identification can exchange unwanted items for two Cinemark movie passes while supplies last. “Our residents requested additional days where they could drop off items,” said recycling operations manager John Barlow IV said. “We’ve seen car bumpers, we’ve seen an old Radio Flyer wagon.” The city will accept tires, scrap metal, electronic items, clothing, shoes, used books and more during this event. Items in good condition including electronics, books and clothing will go to Goodwill Industries, while other items will go to either city processing plants or companies that have partnerships with the city.
