Rebecca Lopez

Rebecca Lopez is a general assignments reporter based out of WFAA-TV's Dallas bureau. She started at WFAA as a part-time reporter in April 1998 and was promoted to full time a year-and-a-half later.Before coming to Channel 8, Lopez worked as a police and investigative reporter at KPNX in Phoenix.

She's also worked as a reporter/weekend anchor at KXAN in Austin, a reporter/morning anchor at KZTV in Corpus Christi, and started her career as a reporter at KTPX (now KWES) in Midland in 1988.

Throughout her career, she has covered some major stories, including the Oklahoma City bombing, the siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, and the kidnapping of two American children found in Mexico.

Lopez graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton. While at the university she watched Channel 8 religiously and made it a career goal to work here.

"I have always admired the integrity and commitment to journalism at WFAA," Lopez said. "The reporters here are some of the best in the business, and it's an honor to work with them. It's a dream come true."
