What Can You Do Right Now?

Set sprinklers to water the lawn or garden only - not the street or sidewalk.

Use the microwave to cook small meals. (It uses less power than an oven.)

Purchase "Green Power" for your home's electricity. (Contact your power supplier to see where and if it is available.)

Scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher; wash only full loads.

Cut back on air conditioning and heating use if you can.

Turn off appliances and lights when you leave the room.

It's part street festival and part educations workshop. For Earth Day, the City of Dallas, Downtown Dallas, Keep Dallas Beautiful, and EPA Region 6 hosted the EarthFest Festival in downtown Dallas.

Exhibitors that focus on a variety of environmental topics and issues will be featured. Some of the booths include environmentally friendly gardening, sustainable building, recycling of electronics, Earth friendly products for the home, high efficiency/low impact transportation options. There was also a fashion show of designs created out of recyclable materials and live music.
