Q: I would like to know where in Fort Worth people live who have died from West Nile virus what zip codes. You give Dallas but not Fort Worth.
A: Such information (number of deaths, names, etc) is released by the Health Department, thus media outlets can only report the information that has been provided. Our coverage has been comprehensive on West Nile issues. We reported the following information on August 14:
“Most cities in Dallas County spray for mosquitoes to combat West Nile virus. Only half-dozen Tarrant County cities have been spraying until now. For the first time in 20 years, Fort Worth will target certain neighborhoods that show a high level of West Nile cases, or a high concentration of mosquitoes that test positive for the virus. Ground spraying will begin Wednesday night. City leaders say every resident is now at risk, because the 45 cases now reported city-wide include every zip code.”
