Q: I wanted to make some comments about lack of DPD directing traffic at the local fireworks shows this week. Parking and traffic congestion was an absolute nightmare at the Addison Kaboomtown…and I'm sure it couldn't have been much better at any of the other local shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thousands of people were totally stuck in un-moving traffic jams that seemed to have no end to them when leaving after the show. The only place that we saw police directing traffic in the North Dallas area near where we were was at Keller Springs and Knoll Trail...after we had already spent an hour in completely snarled traffic leaving the parking area at Arapaho and Knoll Trail. People had even parked their cars on Knoll Trail in unmarked/approved areas, further tying up traffic! Surely the DPD could have provided traffic control in these areas. I certainly hope that in the future, the DPD will consider better options for providing traffic control at these events. Thank you for posting my comments on your site.

A: Thank you for the email. We are sorry to hear of the traffic issues on Tuesday night.  Unfortunately, WFAA is not involved in Kaboomtown.  However, we did televise the fireworks from the Fair Park Fourth event on July 4th at Fair Park in Dallas.  The traffic seemed to be flowing pretty smoothly there before and after the event.
