Q: Why is The Chew shown a day late? All My Children that was in that time slot before was always a day late. Just curious

Valerie

A: You are correct about the one-day delay, or “DB” as we call it. We did the same thing with All My Children dating back to April 1988 in order to accommodate a local Noon newscast. ABC’s feed schedule is such that if Central Time Zone affiliates like WFAA take their feed, they cannot air a live newscast at Noon each day thus the DB. If we were an EST station, it wouldn’t be an issue, however being a CST station it is. Our mission is to supply our viewers with a steady, reliable stream of news and information, which includes local news each day at Noon. We have approached ABC about an earlier, same day feed of The Chew however so far that has not been worked out. Hope that explains the rationale.
