Q: (For Dale Hansen) I just want you to know that I appreciate who you are, and I know who you are because of your character. I have watched you for many years doing the sports on WFAA. My wife is the sports nut but you are the only sportscaster I watch. Why you? Because you are honest with us and yourself; you take a stand when necessary; you boil down the spin of media to real life issues; you are not afraid to tackle the tough stuff, though it might not be fun; you see through the facades of the rich and famous; you help us make sense of our world ... our "real" world. You bring way more to channel 8 than is readily visible to the casual viewer. Most people bring a specific talent or ability to their job but you bring the whole you. I am just a guy that appreciates real people doing real jobs with real convictions and passions. What I say about you matters very little, except to me. I'm not bragging on you but am simply observing the truth, compassion and character that molds lives around you. I know you’re not perfect from your own admissions and that gives us confidence in you. The most important words I can say are “thank you.” You will never know how many eyes are watching you or ears hearing you but those do are experiencing a rare individual in our society today. Re-visiting "Thank God for Kids" this evening motivated me to write this note simply to say thanks Dale for a job well done. Keep on keeping on.

Rex
