Q: Several times recently, I've noticed several different reporters (from WFAA and also from other news stations) mispronounce the word "cache" when referring to weapons stockpiles. When speaking about a "cache" of weapons, it is pronounced "cash" with only one syllable. It is only pronounced "cash-ay" when it is spelled "cachet" or when the "e" has an accent mark above it. (www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cache). Thank you for all you do at WFAA to keep us informed!
A: Thank you for the thoughtful note. We will pass it along to the news department.
