NOTE: Robin Garrett, was chosen as the special WFAA.com "Dancing with the Stars - All Stars" Super Blogger (via a special WFAA/ABC contest) to document the Fall 2012 DWTS season.
I've said it before and I'll say it again! I feel like a tight pair of pants just READY TO RIP!! I am a die-hard Dancing With the Stars fan and have been on pins and needles waiting for the new season to begin. Do you think that the season beginning this particular week in September is just a coincidence? I think not!! This is my very own birthday week and I am quite sure it's just a lil' ol' gift especially for me (okay, okay and maybe for the rest of the world, too)!
For those of you who watched the season premiere last night I am sure you will agree that it did not disappoint!! For those of you who couldn't be home and forgot to set your DVR to record the show just log onto http://beta.abc.go.com and click on the WATCH EPISODES tab to see what you missed! You can catch it all there.
The judges are going to have their work cut out for them since this season is an All Star Cast comprised of Stars and Pros from previous seasons. There are no "newbies" so the competition should be fierce. In order for the judges to make a determination between two close scores a .5 point scoring system has been added.
Here's the low down on last night's show. Tom Burgeron and Brooke Burke are back as commentators this season. Is it just me or was Brooke looking especially fab in that gorgeous iridescent black "mermaid" style dress that she wore? She looked like such a Skinny Minny and has undoubtedly dropped some pounds! Tom, of course, was his same quick-witted funny self. He's never at a loss for words in any situation…except maybe when Kirstie Alley planted a big fat sloppy kiss on him after her dance! Geez, what was up with that??
The first couple to compete last night was Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson. Joey and Kym scored a decent 20.5 points on their dance but… I couldn't help noticing that with the first rattle out of the bag in the practice session clip Joey was having a little trouble keeping his hands "off the merchandise" with Kym. Joey, Joey, Joey. Quit trying to be a "bad boy"! We know you will never live down your Boy Band rep.
My all-time favorite male Pro dancer has got to be Derek Hough who is paired with that little cupcake Shawn Johnson this season. They both looked and danced great. They scored 22 points on their Fox Trot. I personally want to throw in a couple of extra points on their score just because I'm always pulling for Derek. However, Gilles and Peta had a knock out performance and I'm willing to toss a point or two in their direction as well.
Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel pulled in 22.5 points with their Cha Cha Cha performance. Sabrina really got the short end of the stick on Season Five by being eliminated Week 6 when everyone knew she could dance circles around most of the others that season. Luckily she received the majority of votes this season to become the Viewer's Choice contestant. Better watch out because you know what they say about a woman scorned!
Pamela Anderson and Tristan McManus' Cha Cha Cha was a bit lackluster to say the least. The only thing lower than their 17 point score was the neckline of her dress! Holy, moly! It looked like a couple of bald headed dudes were trying to wrestle their way out of her top!! If Pamela is waiting for her mirror ball ship to come in I'm afraid I have some bad new for her. I think her ship was the Titanic!
The remaining couples were good but not that memorable scoring near the middle of the pack. My prediction for the couple to bring home the "mirror ball bacon" is going to have to be Emmitt and Cheryl. In my opinion their dancing earned a check plus, personality check plus plus, and that fabulous Emmitt smile is deserving of a check triple plus!
