Dancing With the Stars Week 3…and the plot thickens! With last week's elimination of Joey and Kym rather than the incorrect thinking of the judges and myself that Bristol and Mark would be saying "Sayonara" it seems that we may need to re-name the show. "Dancing With the Tea Party" might be an appropriate name because there must be politics involved there! In all fairness, though, I guess that is the way that the old cookie crumbles. If football fans can vote for Emmitt and racing fans vote for Helio then party members have the right to vote the way they choose. (You've gotta keep in mind that this is also a faction of the group of people that thought electing Rick Perry was a good idea…and frankly that thinking makes me just a little wee bit nervous!! Maybe they are having one of his "memory lapses" too???) Bristol and Mark are dead last on the leader board again this week with their score of 22.5 points.
Last Tuesday it was announced that two couples would get the boot and be eliminated this week so it's really getting tricky for DWTS voters. Every couple seems to have something for which to be applauded… for example take Kirstie and Maks who tied for seventh and eighth places on the judges' leader board this week with Anna and Drew. When Kirstie first appeared on DWTS she had more chins than a Chinese phone book but just look at her now! She has really whipped it into shape and you've got to love her timing, sparkle and pizazz. With the "Stars"in each couple having creative control this week over their dance and costume theme Kirstie was very original with her design but, ummm, I wasn't exactly sure what Maks was dressed as. Possibly a Chippendales's escapee???
Apolo and partner Karina's Foxtrot tied for fourth, fifth and sixth places with the couples of Sabrina & Louie and Helio & Chelsie with a score of 25.5 points each. Apolo keeps getting comments from cast members with regards to what they are deeming his "sexier" appearance this season but frankly… I haven't noticed. (By the way if you believe that I just happen to have some prime swamp land in Florida that I could make you a heck of a deal on!!! Just hit me up on my celly!)
Kelly and Val's Paso Doble tied with Melissa and Tony's Samba this week for first and second places with a season high score of 27 points. Kelly was looking like a "pretty in pink Barbie" last week but did a complete 180 degree turnaround this week with her "who let the bulls out" attitude and intensity displayed during their Paso Doble rendition. Melissa and Tony's version of the Samba had us "sitting on the edge of our seats" with their daring stunts and drops. My advice would be to wear a seatbelt the next time these two take us for a ride. They were "making like a bakery truck and hauling buns"!
Emmitt and Cheryl's Spanish style Paso Doble tied with Gilles and Peta's 25 point Tango for seventh and eighth places this week. Gilles began the turbulent performance by being suspended from the ceiling in an apparatus with the dance ending by a tumble onto a bed. As they were dancing I was thinking "Holy Guacamole! This is turning into 50 Shades of Gilles!" Lo and behold that is exactly what Bruno commented during his critique! Now we know what's on Bruno's reading list!
Well, I'll be monkey's uncle if Tom Burgeron didn't drop a couple of bombshells on the dancers and viewers during the show Monday night! It seems that a new twist will be added to next week's show in which the couples will be selecting dances for their competitors to perform. Also as a surprise announcement Paula Abdul will be sitting in on next week's show as a guest judge. I can't wait to see how that goes over! By the way if you are a dancer that would like a shot at performing live on DWTS check out this link: http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars/ and click on the AT&T Spotlight Performance area to see the entry rules and requirements. Who knows? Maybe you'll be the one chosen to be on the show! I'll be watching for you!!
