Aha! My Week 1 prediction seems to have been correct. Pamela Anderson and Tristan MacManus were the first couple to make like cow paddies and hit the trail. I admit it wasn’t exactly rocket science figuring that one out but you just never know! That’s why I always exercise my right to vote for the couple of my choice. (I might miss a political election here and there but I DO NOT neglect to cast my votes for DWTS!!) The three couples in jeopardy were Pamela and Tristan, Drew and Anna, and last but apparently not least was the team of Bristol and Mark.
Looking back at last week’s results show Justin Bieber’s performance caused quite a stir with critics. Bieber apparently was lip-syncing while dancing. Oh, no!! Lip-syncing!!! I just had a traumatic flashback to the Milli Vanilli scandal era…not! Good grief, people!!! I say get up off the Beebs and give the kid a break!! (Side note observation: I was a little creeped out by those wacky penguin crotched pants Bieber was wearing, though. Who designed those???)
Sabrina Bryan was a wee bit over excited and out of control last week when she danced the Cha Cha with her partner Louie. It was like we were watching an episode of “Cheetah Girl Gone Wild!” but this week she was anything but wild. Their version of the quickstep that she and Louie danced to Old Black Betty was simply marvy! That dance is difficult for many reasons including the unnatural stiff upper body position, which must remain still while the feet are doing really quick steps--- henceforth the name “quickstep”. Anyway to make a long story short I think Sabrina and Louie deserved to be leaders of the pack this week and earned every bit of their 26 points. Fabuloso!
That hunk-a-saurus Gilles and his partner Peta were a very close second place to Sabrina and Louie with their performance dancing the jive. Gilles even had a leg injury to contend with but did he let that slow him down? Noooooo, he did not! His skill combined with his incredible “what-a-hunk” good looks make him one of my favorites.
Shawn and Derek pulled some gymnastics moves out of their bag of tricks while dancing the jive to score 25 points. Shawn is in such great shape from her athletic conditioning that she never even gets winded while Derek would be panting like a pup! Whatever…I always loves me some Derek!
The remaining couples are all barely separated from each other with the exception of three couples who are tied toward the middle of the pack with a score of 22.5. Those three couples are Drew and Anna, Joey and Kym and my man Emmitt Smith with partner Cheryl. Emmitt wasn’t as dazzling as he was on Week 1 and his video clip segment made him sound a bit “cocky locky” when talking about his competitors. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was quick to put him in his place but seriously, I think the clip taken out of context made it sound worse that it really was. I also am thinking that Emmitt may possibly have borrowed his leopard trimmed pimp suit that he wore last night from former Dallas Cowboy teammate Michael Irvin! (By the way… Go Cowboys! Don’t want to miss an opportunity plug Da Boys!)
Unfortunately unless Bristol’s mom Sarah Palin rustles up a posse of Tea Party members to vote for her baby girl I am afraid that she may be put on a slow boat to China with a one way ticket this week. The score of 18 points that she and Mark received after dancing their country version of the quickstep to the tune of Redneck Woman was not very impressive. The “hoedown” was definitely a “lowdown”!!
