Cynthia Izaguirre

Cynthia Izaguirre

Cynthia Izaguirre is glad to be back home in her beloved Texas as a co-anchor of News 8 Daybreak. Cynthia spent 8 years in the beautiful state of New Mexico working for ABC affiliate KOAT-TV. Cynthia was the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor of Action 7 News.

During her tenure at KOAT-TV, Cynthia received numerous awards from the Associated Press and the New Mexico Broadcasters Association for excellence in broadcasting, including two first place awards for investigative journalism. Also, Cynthia's award winning series, the Red or Green Restaurant report exposed Albuquerque's best and worst restaurants for health conditions. Cynthia also covered numerous breaking national stories in New Mexico including the devastating Cerro Grande fire which destroyed hundreds of homes in Los Alamos. In 2000, she landed an exclusive interview with President Bill Clinton during his historic visit to the Navajo Nation.

Prior to work in New Mexico, Cynthia anchored and reported for KLTV in Tyler, TX and KTAB -TV in Abilene, TX. Cynthia was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Dallas! Cynthia is a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Go Patriots! Cynthia went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of North Texas with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a double minor in Political Science and Spanish. The most frequent question Cynthia has been asked since attending Herbert Marcus elementary school in Dallas is "how do you pronounce your last name?" It's easy...just break it down phonetically. EE-SAH-GEE-REH. O.K...maybe not so easy!

During her free time Cynthia loves to run, dance and cheer on the Cowboys! There's no place like home and Cynthia feels blessed to be back in 'Big D' working for the station she grew up watching...WFAA.
