SOUTHLAKE ― A North Texas family got word Wednesday that their son is safe in Haiti.
Michael DeMatteo of Southlake is in Port-au-Prince with a group from Lynn University, a school in Florida. The group’s mission is to build homes and feed the hungry.
DeMatteo's father told News 8 he received an e-mail from his son stating he was OK.
Seven out of 12 students on the trip have been accounted for.
