KENNEDALE — A few square miles near Kennedale High School took a direct hit from one of Tuesday's tornadoes.

Kennedale police said at least 30 homes in the Rolling Acres subdivision sustained significant damage.

Russell Frost found fence slats piercing the interior walls of his home. "If it hit someone, it would have killed them," he said.

John Meyer saw the storm coming over his back fence, found his dogs and hid in the bathtub.

"We felt this rush of wind when the roof came off," he recalled. "It swirled around and out the door."

Just across the border in Arlington, Christina Malenfant's home took the worst of the swirling winds. She came home to find the entire second story of her house was gone.

On Tuesday evening, she was still looking for three cats and a dog which vanished in the storm.

Kennedale High School was put on lockdown during the storm. Police were patrolling streets until power was restored.

Kennedale police said one woman was hurt when her mobile home was destroyed. Two others in the same park were damaged.

At least two buildings in an industrial park also reported significant damage.
