SACHSE — Police officers in Sachse are taking a "proactive approach" to keep citizens safe in the blazing heat.
They call it "triple-digit patrol."
Any time the temperature reaches 100 degrees, officers will change patrol patterns, focusing on parking lots and looking for unattended children or animals in cars.
Even with the windows rolled down, the heat can quickly become deadly in an idle vehicle.
In Dallas last month, one-year-old Victoria Marks died in her car seat in a hot car. Her mother, a teacher at Frank Guzik Elementary School, is charged with child endangerment.
